Into the New Year, the Ford Ranger Cup match at Bellerive on 14 February saw Luke notch his maiden domestic one-day hundred with a blistering 114 not out against the Western Australian Warriors.
Luke came to the crease with the Tigers in all sorts of trouble at 5/57, but with support from the lower order, he dominated the attack hitting seven boundaries and four towering sixes His effort ensured Tasmania posted a competitive total of 254 from its 50 overs.
It was not quite enough to win the match, but emphasised Luke Butterworth’s all-round cricket ability and marked him as a player to watch in 2009/10.
