Our Luke’s a winner all round

LOCAL cricketer Luke Butterworth has enjoyed a great season with the Weet Bix Sheffield Shield -winning PKF Tasmanian Tigers cricket team.

The talented all-rounder was the leading wicket-taker in the Shield competition this past season, was runner up in the national interstate player of the Sheffield Shield series and named in the four-day team of the year.

His 88 runs in the Shield final at Bellerive, in partnership with young all-rounder James Faulkner, helped Tasmania to overhaul the New South Wales first innings total and his solid performance with the ball also contributed to the Tigers’ victory.

Luke’s impressive season was capped by winning the David Boon Medal as Tasmania’s Sheffield Shield Player of the Year and being named in the provisional Australia A squad to play in the tri-series in Zimbabwe..

Meanwhile, he is enjoying a change of scenery over the winter months, playing in the Scottish Premier League.
